Ecliptic Camera

The Ecliptic Camera: a Pi in a cardboard box on the windowsill, two ribbon cables running to cameras at the glass
Two cameras are mounted: the v3 Wide (IMX708) on the right, and on the left an HQ camera with a 16 mm lens, which has replaced the v1 and is being commissioned.

The two cameras

The v3 Wide view of the southern sky with the HQ16's much narrower field outlined in yellow, and the HQ16 frame beside it
Left: the v3 Wide sees about 100° of sky. The yellow outline is where the HQ camera with its 16 mm lens points: 22 × 17° around Aquarius and Capricornus, low in the south. Right: the HQ16's own frame, taken at the same moment. Both are single 60 s exposures from 13 Oct 2026, 22:30 London time; the outline comes from star-matching both frames, and looks tilted because the wide lens bends the edges of its view.
